January Update
Posted January 11, 2007 01:39 PM
It's early January and Victoria is socked in with the second major snowfall of the season. The fall/early winter weather has consisted of wind, rain and snow storms galore. No outdoor training this weekend for sure. I believe this latest storm is #14 so far. Everyone is thoroughly sick of the bad weather.
On a positive note, it's a brand new year and for a lot of my Tri-Stars it's the year of their first Half Ironman or full Ironman races. Lots of excitement in the air as everyone's training has now commenced in earnest.
My coaching roster for 2007 is almost full with 13 Ironman athletes, 3 Half Ironman athletes, and 3 Olympic distance athletes. I plan to cap my clients this year at 20. Having recently revamped all my precedents and program planning templates I feel prepared for the challenge of the increased client load.
As planned, my personal training business was wound down at the end of 2006 to enable me to focus more fully on my tri coaching clients and on my own Ironman training.
The end of January will see Bob and I downsizing from our current home to a lovely 3 bedroom townhouse with a tiny garden. When we returned from Hawaii this past October the downsizing hunt went into immediate effect and the purchase of the townhouse and sale of our house took place very quickly. It's amazing how things fall so well into place sometimes! The move to the townhouse will also free up more time for training and coaching, and enable us to "lock and go", later in the year, for a month in Kona.
I will be taking part in Ironman Canada as well this year plus I'll be travelling with one of my IM clients, in the late spring, to an exotic location for a race. Lots of travelling involved. More details on this one later...!
