Tri-Stars rock at the New Balance 1/2 Ironman!

Posted June 21, 2006 07:03 PM

This year's 1/2 Ironman race took place on June 18th. Tri-Stars Jacquelyn Neary, Jon Kerr and Jeremy McLeod were all doing the race for the first time. Jacquelyn had a fantastic race and finished 3rd in her age group (F18-24) - way to go Super Tri-Star Jacquelyn!! Jon overcame a bout of last minute flu during the week prior to the race to rally on race day and finish strong. Jeremy was using the race as a stepping stone on the way to his goal race - an Olympic distance race, in August, in Montreal. Both Jacquelyn and Jon will be signing up for Ironman Canada 2007. Jeremy will be making next year's 1/2 Ironman his goal race for 2007.

Taralyn Day and Christiane Selenz both used the race as a training day on the road to Ironman Canada 2006. Taralyn placed very well in her very competitive age group of F25-29. Christiane had a super, solid performance.

In addition, Tri-Star James Furlan was on a relay team and cycled the bike leg. It was a good training day for James - a step on the road to Ironman Canada 2007 which he will be doing next year with wife, Kristi.

Bob and myself were on different relay teams each doing the swim leg - a novel experience! My day was complete when I realized that I had beaten Bob out of the water by almost a minute - yes!!!
